All Saints Church – article in March 2017 Village Views

I begin this month with an update on the Gift Appeal that we made in December. Since I wrote the article for February’s edition of Village Views we have received some additional donations. The total has now reached just over £3500 and we will also be able to claim a few pence short of £774 in Gift Aid from HMRC making an overall total of £4284. So once again we send a very big “Thank you” to all who contributed.

The benefice is hoping to establish evening groups in Lambourn, Eastbury and East Garston to study the Pilgrim course, The Beatitudes. These will run during Lent starting in the week commencing 6th March. More information on the course material can be found at The Bishop of Oxford has contributed a reflection for the first session. Please let Dawn Tonge or myself know if you would like to join us and we will be pleased to let you have more details about venues.

Our Mothering Sunday service is on 26th March at 12 noon. It will be a Family Service in which the young people will play a prominent part. We will be joined as usual by the West Berkshire Strings.

Our Annual Parochial Church Meeting will be held in East Garston Village Hall on Wednesday 29th March at 7.30 pm. It will be preceded by the Annual Meeting of Parishioners for the Election of Churchwardens starting at 7.15 pm.

The Safari Supper that we held last year was thoroughly enjoyed by those that attended and many others have told us that they were sorry to have missed out. So here is advanced notice for your diaries of our plans to hold another this year on Saturday, 10th June.

Following the success of the Cello Concert in September last year which was performed by international cellist Philip Daish-Handy together with the West Berkshire Strings, he has asked if he could make a return visit this year. We have gratefully accepted his offer and have fixed a date with him for the afternoon of Sunday, 10th September.
