Thoughts from The Vicarage with a confirmation prayer, December dates and Advent

Greetings! And a warm welcome to those new readers whom I’ve met during the last week! Please find attached Pews News for this coming week. The week in which we have 14 people, both of younger and of more mature years, who will be confirmed. This very special celebration will be followed by refreshments, photo opportunities and a chance to meet Bishop Olivia over a glass of prosecco or a soft drink and nibbles! All, and I mean all, are welcome. It promises to be an especially wonderful and memorable service! Wednesday 29th 6.30 pm in St Michael & All Angels Lambourn.

Our get togethers at the Vicarage in preparation for their big day have been brilliant – I hope that everyone has enjoyed our time together as much as I have. The very important essential rehearsal will be on Tuesday 28th in St Michael’s at 7.30 pm. It was a bit of a squash at our last gathering !! See who you can spot !!

Please continue to pray along with Bishop Olivia for all those preparing for confirmation – their names are on the attached Pews News.

The season of Advent is hot on the heels of the confirmation service with the chance to join in Advent groups which begin on November 27th 2pm at Christine’s home. Please sign up in church if you would like to jo in. There will be evening get togethers at Meridian – the home of Ruth and John Honey on Tuesday 28th November and the following three weeks. Please let either Ruth or myself know if you’d like to join in with those.

With the coming of Advent I thought a list of December dates may be helpful! Further details will be revealed nearer the time. Sunday worship with Advent wreaths, music and themes will continue as normal!

All in December!!

Remember to give thanks for all that is good in our lives and in the world and to pray for those in need whoever and wherever they may be.

And finally, a prayer for the coming week:

God of glory and of light,
Bless us this day,
Especially those who are being confirmed.
Inspire our worship, direct our thoughts,
guide our prayers,
and strengthen us to follow you always,
through your Holy Spirit. Amen

God bless, keep, and strengthen you, in this month of remembering and always,

Julie
