Parish Share

Please find attached Parish Share information from our Deanery Treasurer, who is also the Churchwarden of All Saints. All churches in the Church of England are expected to contribute towards the cost of clergy and support by way of a parish share contribution. How this is calculated is explained in the leaflet. The amounts we are expected to contribute this year are; St Michael & All Angels £32,784, for All Saints £10,927 and for St James £10.927. These amounts are totally funded from parish giving by church members. This increases every year in line with the cost of living and I would like to encourage all our regular givers to review their giving annually to support these increases. Those using the Parish Giving Scheme can opt to do this automatically. Thanks to Paul for preparing and sharing this leaflet.

In our prayers this week we are holding all those for whom this is the holiday season and if that is yourself I trust that you will have an enjoyable time. Holidays are a good time for rest and a recharging of our batteries!

We need rest; we were made needing rest; Augustine of Hippo wrote of our hearts being restless until they find their rest in God. His most famous work called The Confessions, is a 300 plus page prayer addressed to God beginning with what some have called one of the greatest sentences ever written : “You have made us for yourself O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.

And finally a prayer

God of wisdom, you know our every need and care.
As we come before you, we seek rest from life’s struggles.
Grant us wisdom in simplicity, joy in gratitude, and peace in your presence.
Renew our strength and grant us the patience to wait on you.
Help us find contentment and rest in the blessings you provide.
Amen.

God bless
Julie
