Thoughts from The Vicarage with Autumn, Morning Prayer and remembrance
Greetings and welcome to a number of new readers this week! Pews News is attached giving you the week’s dates, prayers and readings.
Daily Morning Prayer is not featured on our Pews News front page bur details about how to join us are on the second page. We gather each morning except Sunday at 8.30 am either in person in St Michael’s Lambourn, or via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9042057860?pwd=eGVhZFYwNDA5L09LdnhkaWNOdEtRZz09
There are links to the daily liturgy or words that we use. Here are the links to the Apple and Google apps so you can follow the service on your phone or tablet if you want. https://www.churchofengland.org/prayer-and-worship/join-us-service-daily-prayer
All, and I mean all are welcome. Whether you’d like to find out more, or are simply curious, or wish to find a Morning Prayer ‘home’ one day a week – you are very welcome. Mr Vicarage, myself and three or four others are regulars along with visitors, either friends, or friends of friends!
As Autumnal colours begin to grace our countryside and gardens our minds turn towards Remembrance … and plans are afoot for the annual Service at the War Memorial. If you or your organisation would like to lay a wreath this year please contact Margaret Leahy 01488 72405. Service personnel , as ever are all welcome in uniform and we are especially looking for standard bearers this year. Once again, please contact Margaret to find out more.
Writing of remembrance reminds me that we are moving towards November. All Souls, at the beginning of the month is a chance to remember with thankfulness those whom we’ve loved yet see no more. It is a time when we sense God’s heart of compassion for those who grieve and mourn the loss of loved ones and allows us to accompany one another on that journey. A quiet reflective service will be held in St Michael & All Angels at 3pm on November 1st to which all are most welcome. Pop the date in your diary and ask if you’d like to know more.
Finally a prayer
Almighty God, in the noise and confusion of life, we pray for peace in our hearts. In this moment of stillness we bring before you our prayers for the church, the world, our local community and people in particular need. We ask for your help and guidance as we journey through our earthly life, and we give you thanks and praise for the many blessings that you provide for us.
God bless
Julie
