Thoughts from the Vicarage 111

Greetings friends of the Valley
How lovely it is to see the villages regaled with poppies as we draw near to Remembrance Sunday. There will be acts of Remembrance in each village, day and times on the attached.

Thank you to all those who have contributed to the efforts of The British Legion in the Valley and beyond, and to all who have offered their service in any way to the forthcoming Acts of Remembrance.

In other news …

Lambourn CE Primary school have been very active poppy promoters and it was a delight to take part in their Act of Remembrance and silence on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11am.

A reminder that the names of those we love, yet see no more, will remain on the altar one more week. You are welcome to visit and either leave your loved one’s name or take it home with you, light a candle and say a prayer. Each person will be held in our thoughts and prayers and the names gathered up.
Next Sunday is commonly known as stir up Sunday and is also when we celebrate Christ The King. Whatever terminology you prefer it is a favourite of Mr Vicarage and a reminder to get stirring your cake for C*******s!

If you’re wondering what has happened to Wednesdays @ 7 … we are taking a break and resuming for Advent when we will be sharing thoughts upon the spirit of Advent using Paula Gooder’s book The Meaning is in The Waiting available online and from bookshops. We will meet via Zoom (joining instructions on p2 of the attachment) on December 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd – all welcome. If you’d like to know more or would like me to purchase a book for you, please be in touch.

A short prayer

And finally, a short prayer for whatever we may be facing in the coming week …

Peaceful God, May we take refuge in You.
Let us trust and care for each other,
Pursuing peace and justice
In place of war and conflict. Amen

With prayerful best wishes

Julie
