Greetings
Due to Christine isolating after testing positive to Covid (fortunately with only very minor symptoms) there will be no service at East Garston on Sunday and we welcome the Rev Canon Rita Ball to St Michael’s to lead our Benefice Palm Sunday Eucharist.
As we have finished studying the USPG Lent Course, there will be no Wednesday@7 for the next two weeks. The following Wednesday (27th) there will be a zoom meeting to conclude the ‘Living in Love and Faith’ series.
As this is Holy week there will be services every day around the Benefice:
Monday 7.30 pm – St Michael’s, Lambourn – Holy Communion (said)
Tuesday 7.30 pm – St James, Eastbury – Holy Communion (said)
Wednesday 7.30 pm – All Saints, East Garston – Holy Communion (said)
Thursday 7.30 pm – St Michael’s, Lambourn – Communion & stripping of altar
Friday 10.00 am – Walk of Witness – Catholic Church to St Michael’s
Friday 2.00 pm – St James, Eastbury – The Last Hour (Benefice service)
Saturday 7.30 pm – St Michael’s, Lambourn – Easter Vigil (Benefice service)
On Easter day (17th April) we are managing to hold an Easter Eucharist in all three of our churches, but with Julie’s absence and the unavailability of a priest from outside the benefice we are having to adjust service times slightly. The services will therefore be:
Sunday 9.00 am – All Saints, East Garston – Easter Eucharist
Sunday 10.15 am – St James, Eastbury – Easter Eucharist
Sunday 11.30 am – St Michael’s, Lambourn – Easter Eucharist
Sunday 6.30 pm – St Michael’s, Lambourn – Festal Evensong
As choral music returns to St Michael’s with the choir leading the singing at our regular services and a Festal Evensong on Easter day, I am pleased to announce that the Lambourn Good Friday concert will be taking place again this year (the first since 2019).
The church choir and friends will be singing Vaughan Williams G Minor Mass and Stephen Holmes will be playing organ music by Vaughan Williams. This year is the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth. The concert will begin at 7.30 and will last approximately an hour and there will be a retiring collection for the Church Restoration Fund. Do please come along and support them.
Best wishes
Keith
