Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse

As many will have read in the press this week The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) report on the Anglican Church, was published on Wednesday. It makes for sad reading. Over many decades, the Church of England has failed to protect children and young people from sexual abusers. Clergy are being asked by the Bishops to make safe space to read the report, praying for those affected by the report and those who took part in the enquiry. I will be doing this and ask you to join in prayer. Sometimes reports such as these can appear remote but it is everyone’s business – we must be a safe church for all. So … please don’t look away from the press coverage on Thursday of the report. As a church we need to become the church we are called to be – a safe church for all.

We are holding the APCMs in October which would normally have happened in April. This is a chance to look back on the last year, to elect Wardens and representatives and to approve the accounts and to really understand the direction and health of the Church.

  • St James the Greater Eastbury Monday October 12th 7.30pm in church
  • All Saints Church Tuesday October 20th 7.30pm venue to be confirmed (building work)
  • St Michael & All Angels Lambourn Sunday October 25th at 11.00 following Sunday Eucharist (no sermon that day) in church.

Do also please think if God is calling you to stand for election as a PCC Member or something else – many thanks. Thanks especially at this time to our officers; Church Wardens, PCC secretaries and Treasurers.

With prayerful best wishes for the week ahead,
