Greetings!
This weekend we will celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 year reign of unwavering service on the same day as Pentecost, when we remember the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples. What an appropriate coincidence of events!
To celebrate within the Valley there will be a Civic Service at 12 o’clock on Sunday June 5th in St Michael & All Angels Lambourn to which all are welcome. The service (lasting about 40 minutes) will be one of thanksgiving in beautiful music, hymns, prayer and reflection. Do come along with family and friends to this historic service! There will be a commemorative order of service which you will be welcome to keep as a souvenir!
There will also be a 9am BCP service of Holy Communion at St James, Eastbury and a shortened 10.30 sung Eucharist at St Michael & All Angels Lambourn both celebrating Pentecost.
During Covid the chalice was withdrawn due to restrictions with the priest only receiving the blood of Christ using the words ‘for us all’. From Sunday June 12th the chalice containing the wine will be available once again. The chalice will be offered to those who wish to partake. There will be no compulsion nor any kind of judgement. If you prefer to simply receive the bread that is still absolutely fine. Christine and I will explain clearly at each church every week prior to communion. If you do have any query, however small please don’t hesitate to ask either of us.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Civic Service on Sunday at midday in St Michael’s, meanwhile God bless.
Julie
