Thoughts from The Vicarage 181

Greetings on this beautiful sunny morning as the joy of Easter gradually draws nearer!

Today, Holy Saturday, a day poised between the darkness of the tomb and the light which is not yet with us. A day of waiting, anticipation, and preparation for the unabated joy of Easter morning.

All welcome this evening in St Michael’s 7pm for a quiet spoken service (approx. 45minutes) of readings and psalms recalling the story of God’s saving work from creation. This year’s readings will have a baptismal theme as there will be three baptisms on Easter Sunday in Lambourn!

Easter morning services will be held in each of the Valley churches, with Easter gardens, the light of Christ, alleluias and plenty more signs (maybe choccie . . .) of Easter celebration!! The bells will ring out in East Garston and in St Michael’s the buried alleluias will come into the light! Please see the attached Pews News for times and details.

A Festal Choral Evensong will be held in St Michael & All Angels at 6.30pm tomorrow April 9th. All, and I mean all are welcome to come and join in worship of our Risen Lord.

The Good Friday Concert was very much appreciated and thanks to all who came to the concert and to all who performed! The retiring collection raised a goodly sum for St Michael’s – thanks to those who contributed!

Finally, thank you to all those who have enabled our Holy Week services to proceed smoothly and many thanks to those who are preparing the churches for Easter Day including the Easter gardens!

With every blessing for a joyful Easter,

Julie
