Thoughts from the Vicarage 196

Greetings on another blustery July afternoon !

A little earlier than usual please find a bumper attachment of Pews News for the following weeks; July 30th, August 6th and August 13th.

Thanks to Christine who will be leading services while I am on leave. Please direct any prayer requests to her so they may be added to not only Sundays but also to the office of Morning Prayer when all are held in prayer.

There will be a single Benefice service this coming Sunday, July 30th when Christine will be leading the worship at St James Patronal Festival with care for creation as her focus.

Please do put that date in your diary as we all consider that big question – one of which Bishop Olivia works to bring to the fore both locally and nationally within the Church of England. And of course it prompts the question of where is the church on these complicated questions about the care of creation? What does our Christian story contribute to the discussion?

And finally, a prayer that alludes to images from nature as pictures of God’s care and provision. It’s a traditional Irish blessing, an ancient Celtic prayer.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
May the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
May God hold each one of us and all whom we love in his loving hands as we travel through the coming weeks.

God bless

Julie
