Thoughts from The Vicarage 229

Thoughts from The Vicarage with clocks, Good Friday concert and Festal Evensong

Greetings as we approach the most important three days in the church calendar culminating in Easter Day!

We are walking the road with Jesus as it leads from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday, and from there to Holy Saturday and thence to the unexpected and unabated joy of Easter Day. Jesus does all of this for us, for you and we are invited simply to be there, to be with him.

Please see the attached Pews News for services and events. The photo credit of the beautiful picture of our Risen Lord and Peter goes to Sister Regina of Turvey Abbey 2000. The Cuddesdon Christ crucified cross is my own photo!

NB The clocks change on the last Sunday of March each year in the UK, moving forward by one hour to mark the beginning of BST. Make sure you don’t miss the Easter acclamation!!

You are warmly welcome to any of the services during the next few days and do come along to the traditional Good Friday when the augmented choir will be singing Faure’s Requiem and Motets by Stanford. There will be a retiring collection for the organ restoration fund.

Last week we had a most joyful Tuesday at Lambourn school as the children travelled the stations of the cross and met Norman the donkey. In church you can see a display sharing the Reception class visit to church when we made rocking chickens!!

I bid you all a most blessed rest of Holy Week and may Easter hope fill your heart, may Easter peace fill your home, may Easter joy fill your life …

God bless

Julie
