Thoughts from The Vicarage with a party, dates and songsters

Greetings on this beautiful sunny day and what a beautiful evening it was for celebrating the equinox. Thank you as ever, to all those who’ve helped at the various events this past week. Please find Pews news attached.

Thank you to those have been in touch about the date of Bruce & Eileen’s last service which will be July 21st. On Saturday 20th there will be a lunchtime party from 12.30 at The Vicarage 4 Newbury Street Lambourn for Bruce and Eileen to which all are welcome. To help with catering, please would you kindly RSVP to me. This is especially important as the Butler is away!

Good news once again from the most Junior singers of Lambourn Angels. Not only have the children decided on their logo but the T-shirts will be on their way soon! Their debut performance is at The Flower Festival on August 17th. They are very excited and hoping to follow that with Britain’s Got Talent! I am immensely proud of them all – please support them if at all possible and new singers are always welcome.

July 4th sees the last visit of the present Reception children to St Michael’s when we will be celebrating the fact that in God’s Kingdom all are welcome no exception – no outsiders!!! Needless to say, cake will feature 😘 It is a joy to minister to so many children within the Benefice.

July is also a time of farewells for Year 6 children as they look ahead to secondary school. We send our very best wishes to them all. This year’s Leavers Service will be on July 17th at 1.30 in St Michael’s to which parents are welcome 🤗

A final date for your diary is September 14th when we will be holding a Parish away day with lunch at East Garston Village Hall when we will be getting together as we look ahead.

Finally, a reminder that we will presenting Bruce and Eileen a gift on July 21st to mark their farewell. Amanda, who is also standing down from being a Churchwarden, will be coming amongst the congregation on Sundays with a card to sign. Please share this with others so that all who wish may be included. If you wish to donate to such a gift please pass it to the Treasurer Ian Courtney, place it in an envelope and give it to myself or pay directly via direct debit with BL gift reference.

And very finally a few lines, appropriate for the summer solstice, from the Canticle of the Sun by St Francis of Assisi, a song of praise to God for the beauty and richness of his creation.

Be praised, my Lord, through all your creatures,
especially through my lord, Brother Sun,
who brings the day; and you give light through him.
He is beautiful and radiant in all his splendour!
Of you, Most High, he bears the likeness.

God bless, Julie
