Thoughts from The Vicarage with Festivals of Angels & Music, a Gift Day and art
Greetings as we look ahead to the Patronal Festival Eucharist at St Michael and All Angels! This will be a service in which all three churches gather in St Michael’s Lambourn to celebrate. Please note there will be no other services elsewhere that morning.
St Michael’s Gift Day is this Saturday September 28th. Please find attached a letter from St Michael’s Treasurer, Ian Courtney and if you are able please send to others who may wish to support the church.
The day will end with a fabulous Festival of Music – beginning at 6pm with music from Puccini to Postman Pat and opera to organ, all via The Lambourn Angels Junior Choir. There’s something for everyone at this family-friendly concert 6pm – we’ll see you there! Please share the attached poster!!
St Michael’s will be hosting A WATERCOLUR PAINTING COURSE run by our friend Margaret Tweeddale. This is a wonderful opportunity and is open to all!
It will run for 6 weeks, on a Monday afternoon, 2-5pm, starting on Monday 30 September. Each week she will demonstrate a different technique or aspect of watercolour painting, in a hopefully relaxed and happy atmosphere, ie all levels are welcome. Bring your own watercolour paper, paints, brushes and refreshments. There will be no charge. Please phone: 0795 1440 617 to book a place, as space is limited.
I wonder … have you ever thought you would like to take a more active part in any of the services … for example, by reading the Bible, leading intercessions or by being a Chalice administer at communion. Support, help advice all available from myself and Christine or Wendy Holmes. Please pray about this and if you’re feeling you’d like to do so please let me know!

Finally, we love to be hospitable, reflecting the scandalous inclusivity of Christ. Please let me know if you would like to help me in offer refreshments on Saturday September 28th at St Michael’s.
And very finally, a prayer for our time:
God of mercy and compassion, of grace and reconciliation,
pour your power upon all your children in the Middle East:
Jews, Muslims and Christians, Palestinians and Israelis.
Let hatred be turned into love,
fear to trust,
despair to hope,
oppression to freedom,
occupation to liberation,
that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces,
and peace and justice could be experienced by all.
God bless,
Julie
