Thoughts from The Vicarage with school, Harvest bread and thanks

Greetings as we look ahead to the weekend and the week ahead which sees Lambourn CE school hold their Harvest Festival on Monday in St Michael’s church. All welcome!

What a wonderful morning I’ve had with the F2 class, the 4 year olds, of Lambourn CE school! With Harvest coming up on Monday we heard a story about growing wheat, we sang ‘Thank you God our maker’, made mini Harvest loaves – complete with mice and just had time for a snack & a drink before walking back to school! Photos will soon be in church. Let us know what you think!

Today please feel thanked! To all those who dressed St Michael & All Angels so wonderfully for the Patronal Festival and to all who contributed to joyful worship on Sunday – with the choir singing My Soul There Is A Country by Parry – one of my all time favourites!

To the East Garston team who dressed All Saints for Harvest with a special thanks to young Jack who led the prayers for us! To all those who contributed to St Michael’s Gift Day last Saturday and to those who have posted their gifts to the Vicarage. To those who have been in touch with offers of volunteering – if I have yet to respond please be patient!

To each & everyone who contributed, especially to Susan and all who performed at the fabulous Festival of Music – a truly family-friendly concert in aid of the organ fund. It was a super success and very much enjoyed by all who attended – with requests for more of the same!!

All Saints Patronal Festival on Nov 3rd at 10.30 when we will be welcoming Revd Canon Peter Moger, Subdean of Christchurch as our preacher. This is a Benefice service when all 3 churches get together for worship. A post service meal at The Queens has been organised and if you are interested in attending please contact Paul Tame 07748 104840 for more information and to reserve a place. Places will, out of necessity, have to be limited but all are welcome!

Finally, a prayer:
O God of all hope and peace,
we bring to you the needs of our broken and hurting world.
Our hearts are breaking with images of lives lost and torn apart by grief in the Middle East.
We pray for an end to violence and warfare so that the challenging work of rebuilding may begin.
Let hatred be turned into love,
fear to trust,
despair to hope,
oppression to freedom,
occupation to liberation,
that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces,
and peace and justice be experienced by all.

God bless,

Julie
