Greetings with snowdrops and bulbs peeping out in the churchyards bringing us their cheer!
And for those of you who indulge, don’t forget Winterwatch is on this week full of fabulous winter wildlife. While we’re thinking about creation, please don’t forget that the RSPB’s annual Big Garden Birdwatch is back and they are asking for your help. Over the past 45 years RSPB have invited bird lovers to unite and help in the world’s largest garden wildlife survey. The survey asks volunteers to track the birds living in their gardens and green spaces and it helps the RSPB to keep across any changes in garden bird numbers.
Looking towards the weekend we are celebrating The Conversion of Paul this Sunday and all are, as ever welcome at either All Saints at 9 o’clock and St Michael’s at 10.30 both with singing and communion. Looking forward to welcoming you and yours.
Please join a Lent group – either have a chat to either Christine or myself to find out more and join in – you’d be very welcome. No previous experience necessary!
Love Actually Does that ring a bell? If not I can tell you it is a film, a romantic comedy often screened at Christmas with an array of superstars! Why, you may well ask, am I sharing this? The answer is because our very ow superstar Bishop Mary will be leading a Quiet Morning just before the start of Lent on Valentine’s Day morning on Love Actually (no film will be screened!) It is being held at St Laurence Church in Hungerford – thanks to my colleague Revd Mike Saunders. All welcome and again let me know if you’d like to know more.
And finally a prayer – this week from Morning Prayer on Tuesday. This prayer followed Psalm 147 verses 1-12. You may like to find a Bible and read the psalm. Please take comfort in the ancient words as you fall quiet and pray….
Compassionate God,
as you know each star you have created,
so you know the secrets of every heart;
in your loving mercy bring to your table
all who are fearful and broken,
all who are wounded and needy,
that our hungers may be satisfied
in the city of your peace;
through Christ who is our peace.
Every blessing
Julie
