Thoughts from The Vicarage with Pentecost, a magnum opus and prayer

Greetings to you and yours on this glorious Spring like afternoon!

So very proud of the youngest children of Lambourn CE school – the F2s. They sang their hearts out this morning all about the Holy Spirit coming, they then painted flames, cut out and laminated flames ( fear not – I was the lamninator!) and then did a word search with five – yes five words!! What an inspiration they were! If ever you’d like to find out more about joining in with any aspect of our work with children – please simply ask me!

This Sunday: the Spirit is upon us when we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the first apostles, and the amazing things they did in the early days of the Church. In our first reading Acts 2:1-21, we read of the day of Pentecost and the sermon Peter preached after receiving the Holy Spirit. Our Gospel reading shows us Jesus proclaiming, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink” John 7:37-39. What an invitation!

Some readers may be aware that Bob of All Saints produced a folder describing all the stained glass windows in All Saints’ Church. It is absolutely wonderful as those who were there a few Sundays ago witnessed as I somewhat precariously shared it! You too, may view it in church or you can see a sample of it using this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oant-3S2A_gIMGWbqwZw7ehsrV53ATgf/view

Bob has now had the wonderful contents of the folder published as an A4 size hardback book – ideal for the coffee table and is a vast treasure trove. The book can be purchased from him at £25 per copy. All proceeds will be donated to the Tower Restoration Fund. Please support this fundraising effort by contacting Bob at bobbriant106@gmail.com to order your copy. I cannot recommend it too highly it is a magnum opus! Thank you dear Bob!
