Good afternoon friends of The Lambourn Valley
This comes to celebrate the fact that the sun is shining once again, despite the blustery conditions. Having been in touch with quite a few of our families in the villages this comes to let you know of our first Lambourn Valley Picnic – to which you are all welcome!
A friend from the Monday morning Mums and Toddlers group made the suggestion and the idea has grown. Please tell your friends who may not receive thoughts – especially all our Monday morning friends.
The plan is to come along to the field besides the Sports Club in Lambourn, by the river this coming Friday July 31st from 11.45.
Bring your own picnic lunch (maybe even a Goodies lunch!), a large rug, chairs, folding table and all that you need to be comfy. And of course the buggies, prams, toys etc for younger ones and all that your school age children will need – not to mention sunhats as it’s going to be hot! It will simply be a chance to get together with one anther – socially distanced of course.
All are welcome and it would be lovely to see as many of you as possible. With plenty of space to be physically distanced all are welcome regardless of age! No need to worry if you haven’t got a buggy, a pram or even a toddler. You are welcome. Please let me know if you need more information or have a query. 07749 844 600
Worship next Sunday August 2nd …
All are welcome at either service on Sunday.
- Eastbury St James 9.00 Family Communion as we remember St James
- Lambourn St Michael’s Eucharist 10.30
Mid-week Eucharist and Back garden communion
The short services of mid-week Eucharist continue next week as part of the Vicar on Tour pattern. If you’d prefer to come along to an outdoors Eucharist you will be very welcome. (weather permitting) apologies for wrong dates last week and thank you to my editorial sharp eyed friends! I can only blame Belinda church mouse . . .
- Monday August 3rd East Garston 2.30 – 3.30
- Tuesday August 4th Eastbury 2.30 – 3.30
- Wednesday August 5th Lambourn 2.30 – 3.30
This 15 minute service will be followed by the usual ‘social’, physically distanced time. The Sacrament will also be available should those shielding wish to avail themselves at home – back garden communion. In this way all those who wish to, will have the opportunity to participate in prayer, Eucharist and fellowship. Please ask if you’d like to receive the sacrament in your garden (weather permitting!)
Morning Prayer and Compline
Continue daily, except Sunday morning and thanks to Paul for sending out the links along with the Zoom codes for Morning Prayer daily at 8.30 am, Compline daily at 8.30pm and coffee on Sunday. Do remember you can dial into these events and join in via a telephone if you are not a Zoomer. At present we have one person, Betty who does so and she thoroughly enjoys joining in prayer. If you’d like help please ring Keith aka the Vicarage Gardener 01488 208467 who would be only too happy to help.
A Reminder
Please pass any prayer requests to me for next week as we revise the prayer list at the beginning of each new month. Also, if you would like someone to remain on the list please let me know. And yes, August is fast approaching!
Finally
Just wondering if anyone has information about the seat I discovered on my walk last week ‘a seat with a view’ certainly but also ‘a seat with a history’.
I am wondering if any of our readers were there or involved when the seat was installed. It was a pleasure to find it and very comfortable! Do let me know if you were present or connected to this venture in any way.
Wishing everyone a healthy and safe week. Do remember the picnic on Friday because I know Belinda church mouse is looking forward to actually meeting you in person.
Really looking forward to seeing you!
Meanwhile, best wishes
Julie
