Thoughts from the Vicarage 56

Good morning friends of the Valley

I begin today with news that Lydia Ashplant, a friend of so many in the Valley died during the early hours of Friday morning. We hold her son and daughter in our prayers at this time of shock and loss along with the many who held her in special affection … all the more so following the death of David just prior to the lockdown. A reflection of how she was held in affection is the number of you who have already written or rung with thoughts and memories – thank you.

Many may recognise her name as Lydia was the Book Club reviewer who wrote in Village Views, a reader wrote saying ‘what a brilliant review she had written in the latest edition and how well she always wrote‘ … he thought ‘this was her best …‘ She will be greatly missed.

Please find attached the prayer list, readings and collect for tomorrow August 30th. Being the fifth Sunday of the month there will be one service, a Benefice Eucharist at 10.30 am in St Michael’s Lambourn.

Thank you to all those who have continued praying the daily offices of Morning Prayer and Compline in the Valley. If you are interested, would like to know more, join in or have the name of a loved one on the prayer list or would like prayer for yourself please contact either myself 07749 844600 or Christine 07801 096345 or via email.

Thank you to all those who have asked after our time ‘away’ on leave. Keith and I enjoyed our break and it was such a joy to be reunited with members of our family for a few days. It was very special!

Best wishes for the Bank Holiday weekend,
Julie
