The Safari Supper held on the evening of Saturday, 10th June was again a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part. Unfortunately, it is so difficult to pick a date that is suitable for everyone which meant that some people could not make it this year. However, the evening started for those that could make it with drinks and nibbles kindly hosted by Mary and Henry Wilson at Oakfields House. Participants were allocated a host somewhere in the village for their starter and a second host for their main course. We all gathered together again in the Village Hall for the dessert course and a few more drinks. Thanks to all those who helped with the organisation, those who hosted and those who provided desserts. The total raised for church funds was £1,114.
At the risk of being boring, I would like to draw your attention once again to the afternoon concert which will be held in All Saints Church on Sunday, 10th September at 3.30 pm. Phillip Daish-Handy, the international cellist, and his accompanist will be performing and will be joined by the West Berkshire Strings. The concert last year was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Tickets will be £10 for adults but under 18s will get free entry although they should also book their seat. So don’t forget to put this date in your diary and to book your tickets early from me (648646 or rebriant@waitrose.com) or Pat Glover (patriciaglover@btinternet.com) to avoid disappointment.
