On Saturday 15th July, the whole community of East Garston worked together for an extremely successful Village Fete. After the morning rain, we were blessed with better drier weather in the afternoon. The church organised our usual cake stall and provided refreshments in the form of sandwiches, cake, cream teas, tea, coffee and squash. Thanks to our team of volunteers who manned the marquee during the afternoon. Thanks also to the tremendous support of the many villagers who baked the cakes and made the sandwiches. We could not have achieved the success that we did without the support of so many. Proceeds were £540.
Here is the final reminder about the afternoon concert which will be held in All Saints Church on Sunday, 10th September at 3.30 pm. The international cellist, Phillip Daish-Handy and his accompanist, Martin Penrose, will be performing once again and will be joined by students of the West Berkshire Cello Academy. Tickets will be £10 for adults but under 18s will get free entry although they should also book their seat. Tickets are available from me (648646 or rebriant@waitrose.com) or Pat Glover (patriciaglover@btinternet.com).
