Thoughts from the Vicarage 120

Greetings dear friends of the Valley.

Please find attached Pews News for this coming Sunday.

Wednesday @ 7 resumes after the New Year/Christmas break on Wednesday January 26th using the same zoom link. We will be using the book Living in Love and Faith. It promises to be stimulating and thought provoking – I’m really looking forward to getting going on it!

It is a course aiming to help us to think more deeply about what it means to be human. It invites us to engage in and reflect upon living in faith and love and explores Christian teaching and learning about identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage. Each session includes an opening reflection about learning together, followed by teaching, time for discussion and Bible study. The sessions end with an invitation to reflect on our learning, bringing it to God in prayer.

I have copies of the booklet (£5 each) so please let me know if you’d like one so I may reserve you one and, if necessary buy more!

We are very much hoping to resume in person gatherings for Lent, but I think we may have to wait and see.

Morning Prayer and Compline continue via zoom using the code on page 2 of Pews News. We are always pleased to receive requests for prayer so please don’t hesitate to ask! And if ever you have items for the prayer or thanksgiving sections of Pews News, please do let me know – we are all in this Valley (and further afield together!)

It really has been a joy to welcome back Lambourn Lambs babies and toddlers along with the team of helpers on Monday mornings in St Michael & All Angels. The challenge is that with the rate of baby growth and masks I sometimes find it hard to recognise who is who!!

The church is also welcoming back West Berks Health Watch tomorrow, Thursday January 13th and 20th from 1.30 – 3.30 each time when lateral flow test boxes will be available along with actual lateral flow tests on site with advice and information about all things covid related. It’s an excellent opportunity for those who are feeling hesitant about the vaccine or booster to go along and find out more without any pressure – please advertise these visits in your circle!
I have also attached a request from a gentleman, Cedric Stevenson from The Goodings who is looking for paid help two days a week beginning in March. Please do contact him directly if you or anyone else you know is interested.

Finally, Mr Vicarage and I will be on leave from Friday. Christine has kindly offered to take the helm on Sunday and is available on 07801 096345. I will be back at my desk on Saturday 22nd January with Mr Vicarage resuming his role as butler extraordinaire and right-hand man!
With warmest wishes
Julie
