Thoughts from The Vicarage with Youth Choir and Come and See
Greetings dear friends and please find attached Pews News.
Services for the 3rd Sunday of Epiphany will be held in Lambourn 8am BCP & 11.00 All Together Eucharist and in Eastbury for a communion service at 9.30. The Eastbury river wardens reminded us today that the main road through Eastbury will be opened (officially) on Monday. Back Street will remain closed, except for access for a little longer. Should you need to arrive at St James with your car please use the bridge at the church end of Back Street – then park and walk! Looking at the forecast it looks as if you may need an umbrella, but the temperature is warmer which will be a blessing as the risk of ice recedes.
The Lambourn Valley Youth Choir has its first gathering on Tuesday Jan 23rd in St Michael’s Lambourn from 4-5pm. All school age children and young people are welcome to come and sing with me as well as enjoy a drink and biscuit or cake! Really looking forward to sharing some ideas with the choir which will include amongst other things developing a logo, outings during the holiday and a trip out to our Cathedral – Christchurch in Oxford!
Looking further ahead some dates for your diary. St James are hosting a Taizé Benefice Service at 6pm on February 11th- do put it in your diary- as well as Ash Wednesday, which is on the 14th. There will be a service at 7.30pm in St Michael & All Angels.
Thank you very much to all those who sent best wishes to Mr Vicarage and myself as we went on leave – we had a gentle, relaxing break away.
Finally, thinking about Lent not being far off, Come and See is an excellent Diocesan resource which is brought out by Bishop Steven every year. Do look it up on the Diocesan website http://tinyurl.com/2p8yhbnr – we will be encouraging each other to sign up to receive daily emails and resources because it is a helpful and rich way of keeping the holy season of Lent that begins on Ash Wednesday.
God bless
Julie
