Thoughts from The Vicarage with venue change, St Benedict & dates

Greetings! Today the church remembers St Benedict the Abbot of Monte Cassino and Father of modern monasticsm. Please find attached Pews News.

And as we look forward to the weekend, we come to the climax of sporting events both at home and abroad!

Change of venue
Due to the inclement weather and uncertainty with regards to rain the farewell bring and share lunch party for Bruce and Eileen is now going to take place in St Michael’s Church Lambourn at 12.30 on Saturday 20th July. PLease don’t come to the Vicarage – you will be lonely!
Please sign up with what food you would like to share – so avoiding a sausage roll mountain!

Have you ever thought about reading the lesson, leading intercessions, leading a children’s event, leading a service in any of our churches? The local lay worship leaders course is for you and all who may be interested or feel called to become more involved in leading non Eucharistic worship.  The dates are all Wednesdays and will most likely be 7.00 -8.30 on September 4, 11, 18, 25 October 2, 9. Please begin to think and pray about this – have a chat with me if you are wondering.

Finally, a reminder that we will presenting Bruce and Eileen gifts on July 21st to mark their farewell. Amanda, who is also standing down from being a Churchwarden, will be coming amongst the congregation on Sundays with a card to sign. Please share this with others so that all who wish may be included.

And very finally a prayer;
Eternal God,
who made Benedict a wise master in the school of your service
and a guide to many called into community to follow the rule of Christ:
grant that we may put your love before all else
and seek with joy the way of your commandments;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.
Amen.

God bless, Julie
