Thoughts from The Vicarage 335

Thoughts from The Vicarage with scaffolding, Festival, Christenings and a wedding!

Greetings to you and yours as we find ourselves in the midst of a heatwave once again. Please find Pews News and Flower Festival info and poster attached!

We’ve had the most wonderful news this week – St Michael’s roof is complete, the inside lime work, following the ingress of water is finished beautifully AND the scaffolding is down! Thanks be to God and to every single person who has so far given a hand to try and make sure the work was completed asap. Thanks especially to Ruth and Doug St Michael’s fabulous churchwarden team who deserve medals.
The church is looking fabulous inside but …. it really does need a bit of a clean up …. dust gets everywhere!! To that end there’s going to be a 9-12 session of sprucing up and cleaning tomorrow Friday. We would love to have a good team to get it done – Doug is going to run it and sort out what needs doing! It would be super if you are able to be there – especially as we have a wow of a weekend coming up.

Mel & Wil are getting married at noon on Saturday. We wish them every happiness on the day and in their future married life together. The bells will ring out their wedding day joy at around 12.40 – so do come along to see the bride and enjoy the bells.

On Sunday, following Parish sung Eucharist we have five baptisms at 12.15. Maddison, Millie, Bella, Jackson, and Tobias aka TJ are bringing their families and friends to church as they come to be Christened. We all enjoyed a session of pre-baptism preparation in The Vicarage yesterday afternoon after school and they are all looking forward to a very special moment as they receive the light of Christ to mark the occasion.

The Community Flower Festival July 18th & 19th one week to get your flower displays ready to bring along to St Michael’s on Friday afternoon 12.30-5.30. The team are super excited to welcome your creativity. We’d love to see as many local organisations getting involved as possible! Please do feel free to advertise your community group, your business, your school, group or simply add your own individual offering! These do NOT have to be professional level – of course those that are will be wonderful! Amongst others we are welcoming displays from The F2 (5 year olds) children at school and the Lambourn Lambs! Others are offering a painting, a piece of 3d art, a floral offering – all in aid of the ‘Restore our Roof Appeal’ with a raffle to round everything off!

It’s going to be a wonderful community event to which all are welcome – bring families and friends along on either Saturday all day or Sunday with cream teas in the afternoon!

Please contact Jo Higgs 07842 954904 for further info – she’d love to hear from you. We are also needing helpers. Please sign up on the list in church or let Amanda know on 07986 896588. It’s going to be a wonderful Summer Celebration!

Thank you for your prayers & concern for Keith. He is ‘under investigation’ but keeping up!

And a prayer,

Lord Jesus,
refresh our understanding of your call
and challenge that we should not draw boundaries or erect borders to the working of your grace,
despite the divisions and differences that our world or our culture claim as important.
May we love others as you do.

Every blessing, Julie
