Christmas at Saint James, Eastbury
Our 2016 Christmas Services and Festivities at St. James’ Church were very well attended and it was lovely to see everyone who came.
The Christingle Service on Sunday 11th December was a great success and raised £163.50 for the Children’s Society. It was a delightful service, organised beautifully by Jenny Powell.
The Crib Service on Christmas Eve, also magnificently orchestrated by Jenny, saw children engaged in the nativity story, splendidly dressed up in their roles, reading from the pulpit and singing favourite carols. An enchanting service which raised £345.74 for “Starlight”, a charity for seriously and terminally ill children. A big Thank You to Jenny and all the children who took part!
Our Christmas Day Service, with Communion, again saw a very well supported church as families and friends came together to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
Also, thank you to Libby Blackwell for organising the festive decorations in the church. In particular, special thanks to Debbie-Christine Marshall, Fiona Barrow, Linda Maynard, Liz Goodman, Wendy Hordern and Lynn Kennedy for their lovely flower arrangements, hours of careful preparation at a very busy time.
As always, thank you to our Vicar, Martin Cawte, who gave all the services and imaginatively involved the children in doing so.
We would like to take this opportunity to especially thank everyone for all the help and support they give to the church in so many different ways, not only at Christmas time but also throughout the year.
Our very best wishes for the New Year.
