Message from the Vicar – 28 March 2020

My Brothers and Sisters

The guidance from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, leaves us with no alternative but to announce that all Public Worship, home groups, lent study activities and other social gatherings organised by the Benefice are suspended until further notice.

The Archbishops have wisely said, these precautions are taken because of our responsibility to love our neighbours (not to contribute in any way to the spreading of the COVID-19 corona virus). We will continue to be ‘The church’ and we are invited to experiment – and be creative – with praying, worshipping and serving differently.

I’m continuing to pray Morning Prayer in the vicarage each morning and will post here links to the liturgy so you may join with me from your own home.

I will be sending resources by email to enable you to sustain your prayer life at home.

Our overall aim will be to offer support to those who need it, and the opportunity to continue connecting with God through the ministry of the church throughout the crisis. I will be updating details as they arise or change.

Please join me in praying regularly for all who may feel anxious at this time and all of our healthcare professionals.

Finally, if you would like prayer (or other support) for you or someone else, please get in touch. We are happy to be contacted by phone or email either to myself or Christine. Stay calm and let those who are in high-risk groups or self-isolating know that you care for them. Phone calls, messages, letters, cards, food left on the doorstep are all signs of us being community together.

Let’s live hopefully, love generously and pray earnestly, blessing each other by the way we behave and through the quality of our relationships.

May God guard you, keep you and inspire you in these unprecedented times,

With love and every blessing at this time,
