Thoughts from the Vicarage 22

Good morning everyone,

With us being asked to remain in lockdown for a further three weeks and the concern regarding PPE I thought I would begin today by sharing something a friend of mine is doing. She has just volunteered to be part of the South Oxford and Berkshire Scrubs Hub. They are making scrubs for the NHS via scrub hub
https://scrubhub.org.uk/

Karen told me this morning that we already have a group in East Garston who have their sewing machines out already. Bravo! Do join in if you are a seamstress or a taylor! Earlier this week I wrote about becoming the hands and feet of Christ and encouraged us to reflect upon our ‘becoming’ more Christ like at this Easter time. If you are ready for some ‘doing’ this could be for you!

Apologies to John whom I forgot to credit for this vibrant photo of celandines yesterday. Thank you! Tomorrow is the second Sunday of Easter, sometimes referred to as Low Sunday. We will meet after the service with a cup of coffee at 11.10. via Zoom. Please don’t hesitate to ask for help if you would like to join in. Do remember our service streamed as usual from the homes of our Bishops.

And finally …

Eastertide is a season of joyful reflection on the resurrection of Jesus, and the difference that amazing truth makes to our lives today. Yet, celebrating Easter in a Good Friday world has its challenges at times. Paula Gooder has been reflecting on this and has written a short reflection for each day of Easter week. I have found them very helpful at this time and commend them to you. They are attached along with the link to St Paul’s Cathedral where she is Chancellor.

If you find yourself needing a chat, a prayer or simply a virtual cuppa please remember to make contact with a friend, someone, even myself! And if you are feeling a bit wobbly at the thought of another three weeks of lockdown I’m sure you are not alone. We will get through this together, by supporting one another, by staying safe and staying at home.

When the rain stops today enjoy your exercise time, perhaps explore a different route – let me know how you get on, take a photo, share it, and give thanks for this beautiful valley.

God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference, God bless,

Julie
